Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese style restaurant that specialises in soup dumplings (also known as Xiao Long Bao). For those of you who have never tried soup dumplings, well I will tell you I am not talking about dumplings in soup. In fact quite the opposite! Handmade in store, filled with pork and a delightful swig of soup broth, (yes the broth is INSIDE the dumpling) these dumplings are a delight.
Now when accepting the challenge of eating soup dumplings there is a strategy that is required. This is no one bite dumpling. If you value the health and wellness of your mouth seriously, don’t do that. First fill your spoon with the vinegar and ginger, place this perfect plump dumpling on your spoon, take a nibble to allow the steam to escape and the broth to fill your spoon. Then sip and bite. AHHHHH yumm.
