Elio’s is a popular Italian eatery located in the center of Kojimachi close to the Imperial Palace. The restaurant is owned and operated by an Italian chef Elio, and his fellow Italian servers. Luckily, we had a reservation because the place was fully booked on a Saturday afternoon. It gets quite busy during the noon hour, with a mix of Japanese patrons and foreigners, some of them that work for the British Embassy nearby.
Reservations are highly recommend for lunch and dinner.
They do lunch sets ranging from 1600Yen – 3800Yen ,and they also offer a la carte at lunch time.
Honestly, I can just say that even in Italy, it is not easy to find a place like Elio’s – Top quality, true Italian ingredients, Japanese biologic fish and meat. Pasta is homemade and you can’t miss ”Spaghetti con ‘nduja e ricotta’ it is one of their speciality. Their own homemade ricotta is something special, even only as appetizer is really good.
Elio sources all of his own ingredients directly from organic and best quality suppliers – making his own bread , direct sourcing of fish, making his own superb cheeses (from Hokkaido) through to pasta and all vegetables.
Prices – I would say are in line with Tokyo standards but portions are abundant. Definitely an experience to repeat.
Ambiance: The atmosphere is old school Italian , loud and noisy with genuine Italian hospitality.
Desserts here are something that you can’t miss. Last but not least, the owner Elio : a true Italian guy, he welcomes everyone and treats you always as a special guest.
