Taking a sweet lunch break after a nonstop weekend and before another busy week at Hainan Jeefan Shokudo.
This is one of my go-to places for a quick lunch in Roppongi.
They have two branches, One in Ebisu and one in Roppongi behind TSUTAYA.
I love this restaurant set lunch options of Hainan Chicken rice and Singaporean curry of the day. You can also order Paratha (Indian bread) with it. Excellent value with generous portions.
Both the places basically have the same menu but apparently dinner seems best served in Ebisu which I am planing to go sometime soon.
At dinner, the place also knocks out an extensive range of Singapore-style street-stall staples, including curries, stir-fries and spicy laksa lemak noodles. The small outdoor terrace is popular in summer. As there is limited seating; reservations are must for dinner.
Hainan Jeefan Shokudo’s owner, Shigeki Koshiba, is a self-professed “Singapore food geek” (and a graduate of both the London School of Economics and the Culinary Institute of America) and writes an English and Japanese blog (singaporecooking.blogspot.jp) on Singaporean food — good stuff if you want to dig deeper, or are planning an eating tour of Singapore in the near future.
Highly recommend this Singaporean restaurant for both lunch and dinner 🍴in Ebisu and Roppongi.
