Heinz Beck in Tokyo opened in late 2014, located in Nihon Semei Marunouchi Garden Tower. It has an excellent view of the palace and moat.
It is a fine dining Italian restaurant named after Mr. Heinz Beck, who has been leading the gastronomic scene for years at the only restaurant ‘La Pergola’ in Rome, Italy that has received Michelin-three star for more than 10 years.
There are two restaurants run by Heinz Beck in TOKYO in the same property/location. We tried the Heinz Beck fine dining restaurant which is one star Michelin. A more casual restaurant, called Sensi is located downstairs.
The food was outstanding. The preparation and plating of each dish was masterful. It was actually quite similar to what you would expect at a fine dining French restaurant but with the menu inspired by Italian traditions. Being located in Japan, and needing to appeal the local crowd, the menu features raw or slightly cooked seafood. It might sound like a strange combination, but it worked very well together.
Executive chef Carmine Amarante has harmonized the tradition and the innovation by using the finest ingredients in each season, the course menu is almost a collection of modern art masterpieces.
The white-based elegant restaurant with restful ambience is perfect for extended meals, such as the nine-course tasting menu (¥19,000 lunch or dinner), which is much the same as at La Pergola in ROME.
The private dining room can hold up to 14 guests where services in English and Italian, vegetarian and other options are available for those who have allergies /dietary restrictions.
We tried their 4 course lunch menu – Price 6000yen (excluding tax)
Beck’s signature pasta is Fagotelli carbonara, ravioli-like parcels filled with a molten mix of egg and pecorino. This was definitely the star of the dish. I would totally go back for Fagotelli Carbonara.
If possible, allow a generous amount of time for the meal. It would be a shame to rush this! We were there for almost 3 hours for lunch.
