About last night’s dinner date with the most important person in my life!!
Mark’s Table is a Japanese inspired American restaurant located in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo. Honestly, it’s one of the best American fusion restaurant I have ever been in Tokyo!
From the moment you walk up to the beautiful intimate space, you know you are in for a treat. Mark is not only an amazing chef but your best friend from the moment you walk in!
Mark’s restaurant has only 10 seats, 8 on chef’s table and a cozy table for two (perfect for a romantic date night)
What made the dinner so fantastic was the interaction we had with Chef Mark. He spoke to us about his career as a chef but also presented each dish with a thorough explanation of the ingredients he uses to make such delicious meals.
Mark formerly worked in Tokyo in finance. After also working in finance in New York City he changed gears and went to the International Culinary Center in New York City. He then worked at Gramercy Tavern, with a somewhat similar menu – comfort food in a warm environment, with chef Michael Anthony, who also happens to have a strong Japanese connection.
Chef Mark does only course menu that includes five dishes including the dessert (9500¥) excluding the wine.
The five course menu crafted from local ingredients creating an American/Japanese fusion left us speechless.
The wine is fabulously paired with the food. His Californian wine selection is the best in Tokyo in my opinion.
The menu changes every four weeks according to the seasonal ingredients available. Our favorite dish was Mark’s mum’s meat sauce macaroni herb handmade ricotta and parmigiana reggiano. It was to die for!!!! Honestly for a moment, we felt we were in Italy. Mark makes the pasta by hand and uses the best seasonal tomatoes for the sauce.
Mark’s Table is not cheap but the atmosphere and food experience are worth every penny. Reservations are recommended! Its A must visit restaurant that goes above and beyond and leaves you wanting to go back the next night. If you fancy a personalized unique and delicious fusion meal in Tokyo, you CAN’T go wrong with Mark’s Table.
