The Peninsula Tokyo

Afternoon Tea might just be my favourite thing about Tokyo. From sandwiches to scones and back, I could easily indulge on a weekly basis. And since I’ve tried a lot of the city’s best offerings, I thought it would be fun to tell you about my favourite afternoon tea at THE PENINSULA TOKYO.

But first it’s worth mentioning my methodology. While I don’t have strict rules for how I judge afternoon teas, I do care about a few things. First, the food has to be good. It always surprises me how many afternoon teas look beautiful but taste like cardboard. For me, the pastries have to appeal to the taste buds as much as they do to the eyes.

Second, the ambiance  has to please. Whether its bright and modern or comfy and traditional, there has to be something special about it.

And third, there must be a ‘wow’ factor. Whether it’s a themed afternoon tea or a room that transports me to a sweeter, more decaent world, I’m looking for distinction.

I visited the gorgeous ‘The Peninsula Tokyo’ just a few minutes walk of the shopping capital of GINZA, Tokyo to celebrate my dearest friend’s birthday
This is my very first “High Tea” experience since I started my blog which is 4 weeks ago.

Well, Who could say ‘NO’ to bubbles and tables filled with desserts?
The ritual of afternoon tea is alive very well at @thepeninsulatokyo

Sitting there sipping on Champagne  with a wonderful array of finger food to delight the taste buds, I feel truly spoilt.

Special thanks to Moe, who guided us through the various edible delights and the tea selection and also catering to one of our friends who was vegetarian with flying colours. The Peninsula had made every effort to offer a range of vegetarian sandwiches with different fillings.

Sweets and savory treats are presented in an almost theatrical manner in some sort of a golden cage and their tea selection is amazing.

Overall, Impeccable service, beautiful ambiance with the band playing LaLa Land music in the background takes you into a whole new (la la land) world. ( I think I could get used to this 😂) Sssshhhh  ( I hope my husband is not reading this post)

What are you guys up to for the weekend? Any treats planned?

Get on your Autumn 🍂 spirit with delicious afternoon tea ☕️ set this month @thepeninsulatokyo all whilst listening to live music played at the lobby every afternoon from 2:30- 9PM.

The Blooming Afternoon Tea comes with 10 sweet and savoury bites. With tea, the set is 5,000 yen and with a glass of Champagne, the set is 7,000 yen. Afternoon tea at the Peninsula Tokyo seasonally changes its menu and presentation. I can’t wait to go back for Christmas holiday afternoon tea soon so stay tuned!
