There are many Italian restaurants in Tokyo but ‘Trattoria Marie e Monti’ is truly exceptional.
In the kitchen they have the star chef Mitsunobu Suzuki who spent five years at La Bisbochia plus more recently two years in Italy with Antonio Connavacciulo.
Cosimo or Luca the proprietors usually come with a trolly with everything laid out and proceed to explain how they cook it.
The simple advice is to tell them of any dietary restrictions and then order whatever they recommend especially dishes with white or black truffles. Soo gooooood! Likewise with your choice of wine. They also make great use of seasonally produce.
Honestly, If you LIKE La Bisboccia, you will LOVE Mari e Monti. Amazing appetisers and succulent mains combined with best wine pairings.
For appetisers – We had Burrata, Beef Carpaccio with Truffle.
For mains – We called for White Truffle Spagetti, Tomato cream Crab Papardelle and sea bass (fish)
And don’t forget to order desserts. Even if you are not a dessert person (I am normally not a dessert person) make an exception. I promise you will be shockingly impressed!
Everything was just perfect!! The fish, the burrata, the homemade pasta, the desserts and and of course the homemade Limoncello.
If you visit Japan, an evening at Mari e monti is a must!!!!
